Sam Dillon - Tenor Saxophone Ross Margitza - Piano James Suter - Bass Daniel Dufour - Drums Native New Yorker, saxophonist, composer, and educator Sam Dillon has established himself among the most sought-after voices in contemporary jazz, bridging traditions between time-honored legends and new generations. Sam’s prolific credits includes over 50 studio recordings, taking him on tour nationally and internationally, as he’s become one of the in-demand musicians in NYC. He headlined the London Jazz Festival, and performs regularly with big bands including Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Mingus Big Band, 8-Bit Big Band, The Birdland Big Band, Steven Feifke, Jimmy Heath Big Band, Slide Hampton Octet, and has been spotted with Aubrey Logan. His most recent album “Trade Off” with Andrew Gould marks the premier collaboration between Pinch Records and La Reserve imprints. He can also be heard on Cellar Live Records (“My Ideal”), and as a sideman on multiple Grammy-winning (8-Bit Big Band: “Kirby Superstar”) and nominated (Mingus Big Band: Centennial Sessions) recordings. He is a graduate of SUNY Purchase, The Juilliard School, and was Director of the USDAN Summer Camp for the Arts, where he honed his solid accessible sense in balance with technical mastery. In 2013 Sam was selected as a semi-finalist of the prestigious Thelonious Monk Jazz Competition. In his debut appearance as a leader at Monks, join us for a performance from one of the busiest musicians working today, as he shares original and standard repertoire in a high energy and hard-hitting performance.
