He has recorded and toured with artists such as Ulysses Owens Jr., Diane Schuur, Michael Dease, and Jonathan Blake, earning recognition for his warm tone and grounded, “down home” energy. A Houston native, Hainsworth carries forward the “Texas Tenor” tradition shaped by players like Illinois Jacquet, Arnett Cobb, and Billy Harper. He performs nationwide as both a leader and sideman, appearing at premier venues including Jazz at Lincoln Center and SFJAZZ, and regularly serves as a guest clinician at major festivals and universities. Beyond performance, Hainsworth is an accomplished composer and arranger, with work commissioned and performed by ensembles such as the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Christian McBride Big Band, Count Basie Orchestra, and San Francisco Symphony Chamber Players.
