Join us for a live taping and listening-room concert for the Felipe Brito Quintet! Felipe Brito - Trombone Paulo Santos - Saxophone Marco Antonio Santos - Guitar Eli Menezes - Bass Micahel Longoria - Drums Dr. Felipe Brito is the Director of Jazz Studies and Assistant Professor of Trombone at Southeast Missouri State University. He is also the Development Director at Amistad Caribbean Arts Camp and Founder and CEO of Brito Consulting LLC. Felipe will release his debut album, "Don't Put Off Until Tomorrow," in May 2024 by the New Your label Outside in Music. The project integrates Afro-Brazilian music genres such as samba, bossa nova, maracatu, and aluje using a modern jazz language. Felipe's original compositions reflect his life in Brazil and The United States. The team of musicians counts on Latin Grammy Award Winners: sound engineer Adonias Junior, saxophonist Raphael Ferreira, and pianist Favio Leandro. In addition, Felipe collaborates with Brazilian superstar artists Rodrigo Bras (drums) and Jackson Silva (bass). This album strongly marks the underrepresentation of Afro-Brazilian and LatinX musicians in The United States by being released in the US market by Brazilian musicians. Felipe has performed with Branford Marsalis, Robin Eubanks, Raul de Souza, Joe Lovano, Jorge Santana, Bobby Sanabria, Andre Hayward, Cleveland Opera Theater, Paducah Symphony, and many other musicians, orchestras, and ensembles. You can find him on the road performing in St. Louis, Memphis, Nashville, Chicago, and Texas.
