Join us for a live taping and listening-room concert for the Monks Jazz Showcase: Night One! Featuring performances lead by Jerry Espinoza, The Waller Creek Vipers, and Andrew Gould. 6:30 PM • Jerry Espinoza 8:00 PM • The Waller Creek Vipers 9:30 PM • Andrew Gould Jerry Espinoza | Born in Laredo, Texas, Jerry Espinoza received his bachelor's degree in Classical Saxophone Performance at Texas A&M in Kingsville, under the direction of James Warth. Jerry also earned a master's degree in 2015 in Jazz Studies at Texas State University, with emphasis in arranging, under the direction of Russell Haight and Hank Hehmsoth. Currently, he serving as adjunct professor of saxophone at A&M Kingsville and performs as a freelance musician across Central Texas. This concert will feature original compositions and fresh arrangements of jazz standards penned by Jerry & members across the bandstand. The Waller Creek Vipers | The Waller Creek Vipers was created by local swing dancer and bandleader Vic Celania a decade ago, and has been playing dance events and private parties ever since. Featuring swing and jump blues from the 40s and 50s, the group offers a charming and energetic take on jazz. Andrew Gould | Native New Yorker, saxophonist and composer Andrew Gould has established himself as one of the most in demand players on the NYC music scene. He has performed and/or recorded with James Moody, Ron Carter, Wallace Roney, Jon Faddis, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, the Mambo Legends Orchestra, Mac Miller, Fifth Harmony, the Scary Pockets, Ray Angry, Bobby Sanabria and many more. A 2013 Thelonious Monk Saxophone Competition semi finalist, Andrew has recorded for MTV, HBO, Sony, Universal Music, Warner Music, Capitol Records and has performed on the Today Show, ABC News, multiple live TV broadcasts and the Amazon Prime series "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”. Please Note: This is a live-taping, so we'll be enforcing a whisper-policy! Cold bottles of still and sparkling water will be available for purchase, but this event is BYOB. Ice will be available if needed, wine keys and 9oz cups provided! 22 free parking spaces onsite are first-come-first-serve.
