Featuring performances lead by Collin Shook, Paul Deemer, and Courtney Santana. 6:30 PM • Paul Deemer • Tickets 8:00 PM • Collin Shook • Tickets 9:30 PM • Courtney Santana • Tickets Collin Shook | Collin Shook, native to Dallas, Texas, is a jazz pianist, composer, and founder of Monks Jazz. During high school, he studied instruments from all around the bandstand, moved to Austin in 2007, performed and recorded in Tucson from 2009 to 2013, and finally returned to Austin in 2014. In September 2016, Collin collaborated with the art co-op Topology in East Austin to create Monks Jazz Club, a pop-up listening room concept. Paul Deemer | Paul Deemer is an Austin, Texas-based musician who plays trombone, drums, keyboard, and trumpet at home and abroad. He is currently playing and touring with The Polyphonic Spree, Calexico, Progger (an offshoot of Snarky Puppy), Brownout, and Summit Recording artists Jazzbonez. Paul and his horn section joined Austin’s own Gary Clark Jr. at the 2019 Austin City Limits festival. An adjunct professor, clinician, and lecturer of Jazz Trombone at The University of Texas at Austin and Texas State University, Paul also holds a Master’s degree in Studio Music and Jazz from the Frost School of Music in Miami, Florida. Courtney Santana | Vocalist and recording artist Courtney Santana has been in music, live music theater, and dance for over 30 years. She has been a featured vocalist and background vocalist on over 17 albums and she has performed with and alongside Brannen Temple, Guy Forsyth, Patrice Pike, Strings Attached, Malford Milligan, Nakia, Chanel Haynes, and more. She has also opened for national acts like Kirk Whalum, Kyle Turner, Salt N Pepa, and Musiq Soulchild. She has been nominated by the Austin Chronicle for best cover band for 3 times. As a member of Austin’s theater community, she has performed in some of Austin’s most loved musical performances including Dreamgirls, Fame, Porgy & Bess, and RENT and in May of 2012, she was honored to be the cover of Austin Women’s Magazine for her work as a vocalist and as a leader in the domestic violence movement. In 2017, she received a proclamation from Mayor Steve Adler, proclaiming March 3 is Courtney Santana Day in Austin, Texas. Please Note: This is a live-taping, so we'll be enforcing a whisper-policy! Cold bottles of still and sparkling water will be available for purchase, but this event is BYOB. Ice will be available if needed, wine keys and 9oz cups provided! 22 free parking spaces onsite are first-come-first-serve.
