Join us for a live taping and listening-room concert for the B-Side Quintet! Jerry Espinoza - Saxophone Terry Bowness - Piano Bruce Saunders - Guitar Chris Maresh - Bass Kevin Witt - Drums Formed by Austin drummer Kevin Witt, B-Side Quintet is a collective featuring some of the most prominent players in the area. The group performs a mix of deep cuts from the hard bop jazz era. We’re talking Coltrane, Monk, Joe Henderson and Wayne Shorter, and unique arrangements from a wide selection of genres and influences including Stevie Wonder, Gil Scot Heron, Michael Jackson, Bill Withers, Radiohead and more. A Texas native, Kevin Witt attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, moving to NYC in 2001, where he performed and studied at the Drummer's Collective under Peter Retzlaff and studied privately with Jimmy Cobb and Cindy Blackman before moving to Austin in 2006. Kevin has played with many jazz luminaries on the Austin jazz scene including Andre Hayward, Bruce Saunders, Eli Haslanger, Pete Rodriquez, Russell Haight, Chris Maresh, and vocalist Alison Wedding. Kevin is the founding member of 3jazz, which included acclaimed saxophonist Philippe Vieux, and L.A. bassist Joao Costa Vargas, which produced two records and hosted a popular spoken word series. Please Note: This is a live-taping, so we'll be enforcing a whisper-policy! Cold bottles of still and sparkling water will be available for purchase, but this event is BYOB.
