Concerts for Human Harmony’s Improvisational Soundscapes Cosmic Intuition Productions & Monks Jazz Present: Celebrating the Sun: A Tribute to Sun Ra Thursday, August 28 · 8:00 PM In 1954, visionary musician Sun Ra formed the Intergalactic Arkestra, launching a musical legacy that has spanned over seven decades. With more than 200 albums released through his El Saturn Research label and others, Sun Ra reshaped the sound of jazz with celestial compositions, spiritual explorations, and theatrical live shows featuring dancers, percussionists, and cosmic spectacle. On August 28, Cosmic Intuition, led by Sun Ra student and longtime Arkestra member Rashah Amen, invites you on a journey through Sun Ra’s rich catalog. Expect iconic compositions, spontaneous improvisations, chants from the cosmos, and more. Special guests Jeff Lofton (trumpet) and Dan Thomas (saxophone) will join the ensemble for this one-of-a-kind experience. This is a not-for-profit event presented in partnership with Fisterra Austin, with support from the City of Austin’s Arts, Culture, Music, and Entertainment Division. Celebrate the sound, the sun, and the spirit of Sun Ra. In Gratitude!
